The name MomPositive was devised by my daughter, Auriel. In a conversation, she shared how she had been thinking about all a Mom is expected to do. the societal demands on Moms today is atrocious. We are expected to work in a career that is financially rewarding, bear and rear healthy, happy children, keep house, garden, stay up with the latest trends, stay thin, be active, tote our children around to a million school events, cook, maintain friendships and a positive relationship with our hubbies. How can any one do it all? My daughter said in thinking about it, “Well, that’s not Mom-Positive.” Hence, we came up with the name. I hope you’ll take out the time for a Mom-Pause and step into a world where YOUR health and happiness matters. In fact, it matters so much, the rest of everything you do depends on it!
Being a Mom has got to be the most rewarding job in the universe. I love being Mom to my two amazing children. The gifts they bring to my spirit far outnumber the trials and challenges.
Being a Mom has to also be the most difficult job in the world. Our children are priceless but they are also challenging and – in case you hadn’t noticed – don’t come with instructions. Often a Moms day is spent with every thought and action focused solely on her children. Do that for a few years, then, one day you might wake up to a body that doesn’t look or feel like your own any more.
I did this. My sole focus was taking care of the needs of others, and somewhere along the line, 20 years later…I felt lost, in a shell that was my body but didn’t look or feel like my body. My life was a mess. I was sick. Among a laundry list of discomforts, I was suffering from chronic pain in my hands, knees, and back, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, frequent debilitating migraines, lifelong depression, panic attacks, high cholesterol and blood pressure.
So began my journey toward wellness. One step at a time I recovered. I lost weight. I got back into my own body and life. Today, I can say I’m a much better Mom for it. … just ask my kids! But my journey isn’t over, I get to spend my days helping Moms like me, who may have gotten lost along the way and are ready to take those steps to get back into their own body.
I received my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition . I graduated in September 2010. I have also earned my Diploma in Master Herbalist Studies (2005) at the Australasian College and a completed a certificate in Holistic Nutrition from Penn Foster in 2012. Since then, I’ve earned certificates in Nutrition for Health Promotion, Sports Nutrition, and Aromatherapy. I am an active member of the International Association for Health Coaches.
Every day I continue to learn more about the field of nutrition and other “foods” that affect our health & well being.
From 2011 to 2013, I was blessed to work with a talented group of individuals at my healing center, New Beginnings Health & Wellness, where I offered my in person Health Coaching services. Over time, my calling to work nationally became stronger, and so, in 2013 I moved my coaching practice to be online and through phone appointments only. In fall, 2015, Lessons for MomPositive Living, my first published book, will be available through Amazon and other amazing retailers near you!
Another blessing I’ve had along my journey is that of being a proud Coaching Circle Coach for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition since January of 2011, guiding the next generation of Integrative Nutrition Health Coaches toward healthier lives and successful, happy practices. In 2012, I received a Health Leadership Award from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in recognition of this work.
I currently have limited availability to work via telephone or Uberconference. I offer individual and group coaching.
